Crates to transport Cheetahs overseas
December 9th, 2011Wooden boxes, or wooden crates to transport wild animals such as cheetahs need to be custom built. Any cat or dangerous animal needs a special wooden crate. The insides of the crate need to be clad with steel to stop the animals scratching the inside of the wooden box. The crate also needs to be reinforced with strong beams – the mesh should be a double layer so that the claws of the animal cannot reach outside the animal crate. The wooden transport crate will need to follow the IATA regulations pertaining to pet transport boxes and pet travel regulations. The wooden crate for wild animals will also need to have beams under the crate to enable a fork lift to carry the box.
The livestock crate will need to be fumigated, or treated, if the animals are to be flown overseas – or anywhere else in Africa. A certificate issued by a pest control company will need to be issued with the relevant details such as the destination and flight details shown on the wooden crate certificate. Smaller animals – wild animal crats for serval & caracaldo not need to be lined with steel. A sliding tray at the bottom of the crate to clear out litter is essential if the wild animal, such as a cheetah is going on a very long flight. As with standard IATA regulations for pet transport boxes, you will need a water bowl and doors that can be locked.
